I was happy to find the Fisherwoman when I was pulling figures out of foil packets in a box in my home. After a while, you get scared that you just bought a bunch of blind duplicates - getting one of the figures you actually want is always a blast.
The yellow-clad fisherman with a big yellow hat is nothing new, you'll see these as Playmobil figures dating back to the 1980s if not even earlier. I don't recall seeing one quote like this though - rolled-up sleeves, big green boots, and the IKEA-ish colors are hard to ignore. She's vibrant, with many pockets and a big zipper on her chest. The outfit's coveralls are open on the back, thanks to painted blue shapes showing the shirt instead of a bare yellow back.
The rotating wrists can grip the tail of the included lobster or one of the handles on the bucket. I couldn't get her to grab the crabs. The hat fits snuggly, and I'm really digging how this one looks.
The animals in the bucket are also grand. The lobster is red - nothing too fancy - with crabs marbles with red and yellow plastic. All of these are rubbery and pretty nifty. The molds for the animals have been around for at least a couple of decades, so if you've missed them this is a good way to get more. Sadly the figure doesn't have a boat, but I've got boats. I've got a lot of boats.
I'm getting some shelves together and look forward to having her hang out on one of the boats once I get everything together. I wish I had one of the old fishing boats, but alas, I have written more toy reviews in the last decade than I expected to in my entire life. I have to stop somewhere. I'm digging this figure though, and I'd say she was worth the asking price.
