Mattel Masters of the Universe Classics End of Wars Weapons Pak Action FigureIn a month of creepy monsters, the End of Wars Weapons Pak instead brings us one of the most adorable characters in the mythos with Kowl from She-Ra. It hit "Almost Gone" status rather quickly, which the previous pack didn't. It helps to include numerous new bits and pieces. The previous pack was loaded with new weapons - newly-sculpted weapons for 4 figures - but this set has but two, plus Kowl. Figures sell!

The teeny-tiny know-it-all owl is about 2 1/3-inches high at the ears, which are decorated quite nicely. Mattel and the Horsemen took his animation model and applied the toy's colors to it, resulting in a perfectly nice little figure. The original toy had slightly more feminine eyelashes, and the darker feathers of the cartoon would be a nice fit here but there's nothing wrong with the yellowish tint. The chubby little guy looks like Dumbo and a Care Bear mated, with big eyes and a beak. I'm not sure which parent donated the beak. Each arm is articulated, as is the neck - other than that, the figure just more or less stands there and looks good. For those keeping track he's a bit smaller than Orko, unless you count the ears.

This is unquestionably the reason to buy the set - Rattlor's armor and Strobo's gun are nice, but a new figure trumps everything.

Mattel Masters of the Universe Classics End of Wars Weapons Pak Action FigureRattlor's armor is modeled after a piece that was costed out of the original figure and was itself inspired by the armor worn by the General in the 2003 action figure line. Sadly it wasn't part of the original release, but it looks nice and fits well on the snake man's body. Getting the straps in place can be a little tricky, but they ultimately fit just fine and the blue matches Rattlor's scales nicely.

Strobo's gun is another new piece, which arrives without the benefit of Strobo having gone on sale to the general public yet - if you were at the right convention, you no doubt have him by now. The mirrored gun has a silver tip and black handles, making it a good fit for either Strobo or any of the various Zodacs or Zodaks you may own. Mine was a little misshapen. Also cool, Netossa's blue sword - the figure came with just a shield last January, so these two weapons really help to flesh out a couple of figures that were feeling somewhat incomplete.

Other new additions: He-Man's sword, shield, and axe in green. Other than the shield, these are unpainted. Weapons Rack gear in gold - looks cool. Sir Laser-Lot's gear in silver - looks significantly better than the original clear red. Hurricane Hordak's attachments in black. Eh. Trap Jaw's gear in silver, to match Roboto. Nice. If you're been collecting the whole line, this set is largely quite good... but getting Strobo's gun early is a little disappointing without Strobo in hand yet. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with green He-Man weapons yet, but they certainly look cool.
