My friend Seth is a big proponent of clear figures, so when I get one like Brilliant-Optimus Prime I go "Oh, he's going to love this." It uses the same mold as the figure from series 1, but it's incredibly bright clear plastic this time. The basic 2-inch figure mold is good, but the colors? Wow.

Each piece is a ball joint, making this more articulated than most blind box figures. The eyes are an opaque blue piece set inside a clear blue helmet, with a painted crest and face mask. The left arm has an Autobot symbol, while the chest has printed lights, windows, and a painted white grille. It's shiny. Everything seems sharp and clean, so whatever painting technique they're using is clearly working.

You can swap out a fist for the bright orange axe. Will you lose the hand? Probably. I'm storing it in the container truck so I don't lose it. I'm impressed just how bright that orange is on my desk as I sit in the dark in front of my computer. It's impressive, to say the least.

Is it perfect? No. I'd have liked the smokestacks on the shoulders to be painted, but aside from that I think they delivered a superlative figure for the price. If you can make me not gripe about yet another Optimus Prime toy, you're doing something right.

The coin is debris. I don't need it, it's an extra and I wouldn't miss it if I lost it. If it were metal, maybe I'd feel differently, but I'd rather the budget go into figure paint or a bonus accessory.

In a perfect world fans would be able to pick if they wanted clear or opaque figures, but this is not how it worked out. At least they're all generally pretty good, and eBay prices aren't terrible if you want just this one guy. But the whole wave, in a sealed case, is $36 - so just get that. Highly recommended if you like/love/have Battle Beasts.
