I am super curious to see if Hound (and Swindle) get rejiggered. The "Wheels" series brought out the familiar vehicle with Jeep-ish grilles, which they tend to be pretty protective over. Non-licensed toy cars with the very specific look eventually exited the market, as we've seen from the now-gone Jeepmobil page which showcased early toys that slowly moved away from the familiar look.
The car itself is a nice size, with a jointed windshield, a movable cannon, and spinning wheels. And a spare tire. It's not quite the 1984 Hound toy, nor is it totally a new modern thing - you'll find a lot of elements of multiple Hounds here.
The toy fits together easily. Some parts are shared with other kits in this set, no doubt helping to keep the costs down a bit. I like the level of detail and glossy paint, although the rolling wheels leave something to be desired. The plastic pegs with snap-on wheels can't compete with Mattel's Hot Wheels metal axles.
The car's interior is surprisingly nice, with detailed seats and a nice dashboard. And you can probably fit a figure in there, if you can find one in the series' chase figures.
Blokees says the chassis is made out of a denser material, which makes sense. It feels a little bit colder than the rest of the toy, but not like a metal element. You probably have plenty of similar Jeep-ish cars at your fingertips from other toy car lines, but probably not many with an Autobot face on the hood or gold trim. I don't know if this particular format will be a hit for the long run, but at least for now I like it enough to want to grab some more and keep opening the case. I'd suggest picking up a random one and see how you like them. It's not going to change your life... but to have a bunch of alt modes on display? This could be a compelling series, priced nicely and easily bought.
