Are you a 1980s (or maybe 1990s) toy kid? Cheetor is a required purchase. I was super excited when I saw they were doing him, mostly because it ticks so many boxes. As a kid, I loved Transformers and as a college kid, away from my parents' house, I finally got to buy Beast Wars. In between the two, I watched the cartoons and also absolutely adored my Battle Beasts. This Cheetor feels a lot like a next-generation Battle Beasts figure, which may be the only vintage toy brand that I would go bananas if it got a proper update. The Minimates were OK, but not cyborg animals in armor. Beast Saga were neat, but are too big, and not cute. This guy? He's the right size, and he's adorable. We have a winner. Blokees, you need to do Battle Beasts next.
Wait, where was I? Right, Cheetor.

Assembling the Maximal is pretty easy, and also shows just how clever they were designing this guy. Like the original toy, the front of his shins and his upper arms are blue. He lacks the weird mouth crotch, but the color matches and it looks good. The feet are actual feet, the hands are gold, and it seems to capture the vibes of an idealized version of the character. His eyes (all four of them) are red, like the original Hasbro release of the toy. His fists are gold, which matches the toy. His sculpting seems to want to be like the cartoon, with decent - but not amazing - deco. Sure, he has spots on his chest, but nowhere else. I understand for budget reasons, this is a good idea. But honestly, it also shows that Cheetor would have been a great "chase" variant because they could paint the guts on his gun, or add spots, or change the eye color to match the cartoon/toy/whatever. Maybe they'll do it later, the line's performance seems to warrant additional series of these things and a "greatest hits" would make sense.
Articulation is consistent with the other figures - ball joints everywhere. It's kind of incredible that a little robot in 2026 has articulation superior to a 1996 toy, sacrificing transformation powers for a massive cost reduction. His face looks like a mishmash of other versions of the character, and it's just a treat to pose and play around with him. I don't want to fire up the 3D printer, but I'm totally thinking of making some terrain for these guys. I liked Primal just fine, but Cheetor's way better. Maybe it's the blaster - it really helps make Cheetor seem like a fully-realized figure.

This guy has so many new parts that I can't knock anything about it. Blokees put some money in this series, and the results are worth the asking price. A case is around $36 right now, and anyone out there who has collected any of Hasbro's 1980s or 1990s Takara output would probably just adore them all. Sure, the paint on the face may not be perfect but it's absolutely good enough. I hope the gold hands never crumble - that worries me a bit - but everything just looks gorgeous. Get one of these. Seriously, go do it.
