I was ready to grouse about Ironhide Glittering from Blokees, but this Defender-class figure is a real gem. And I mean that, because the clear robot's facets absolutely light up in person with candylike brilliance. It's not a chase figure, so when you buy a case for $36 or $40 or whatever you're going to get him, and he's going to have a coin, and that coin is plastic. As of my writing this, five series in, you can't get a "regular" Defender-size Ironhide in opaque red. You can get the Shattered Glass one, and you still can't get a Ratchet, but let no one say there aren't plans for the future here.
If you collect Glyos or Sofubi figures, the idea of clear guy is probably really exciting to you. I can't help but think these inspired Blokees' deco artists, so far everything seems at the very least inspired by official designs but stuff like this certainly stretches the line's future potential. Yeah, I wouldn't have put this on the list when I could have a standard one, but I wouldn't bet on anything lasting several years.

Taking a cue from LEGO - which Blokees also did for unrelated construction kits - you can see they're making money by keeping parts in use for a long time. On my desk just happens to be Prowl from series 1, and they're basically the same molds from the wist down. Their hands and forearms are the same, but the upper bodies and heads are unique. And that's fine - at this size the blocky builds are incredibly similar and your average fan probably won't notice the repeated parts on mot figures. The same is also true of Scavenger and other figures.
The impressive red coloring is while you should want this figure, but the blue eyes pop nicely and the decal (I assume) on the chest looks great. The tiny printed Autobot symbol looks great, as do the yellow headlights. THere's not a lot of excess here, and the only thing the cartoon model has that the Blokees toy lacks is a gray back. It's a pretty good translation for a figure that's the size of old Battle Beasts and every point of articulation is a ball joint.

More of an arty figure than a typical collector figure, I assume there are going to be people who kick this one to the curb when the "standard" edition gets released. And also there will be people who only want this one because it really is a shiny little guy, complete with a clear gray blaster, that stands apart from the other figures in a well-lit display. I'm still recommending people buy the entire case of 12 because it costs only a little bit more than a typical Hasbro Deluxe figure and offers a good bit of entertainment. I'm pretty sure this is the cheapest Ironhide you can get - be it individually, or in a case. For a lot of fans, nice little robot figures with lots of articulation might be a better way to go than $30-$60 transforming figures.
