Another in a clever series of bigger toys-as-$1-cars, Decidedly Go takes the Magic 8-Ball fortune telling die and puts it in the bottom of a car. There's no fluid like the full-size ball, but it has a nice rattle and performs similarly to the classic toy. It has pro-Microsoft propaganda like "OUTLOOK GOOD" on it, but it's still fun.

The clear plastic base gives you a clear look at the dice as it rolls, and the metal chassis looks decent. The black plastic engine and ball seem to be made of the same stuff, and the metal bit looks like... I don't know. A hot rod pastiche of some sort, it could just as easily be an undetailed block and it would still be a pretty solid concept.

It rolls easily and has a decent sense of weight to it, rattling as it rolls along on your desk. The white painted wheels look fine, the pinstriping on the hood and trunk look great. The sides where the doors aren't look a little plain without sculpted grooves or paint to break up the metalflake purple. The "8" is big and clean, and the exposed engine looks fine. It's really surprising to see what Mattel can deliver at this price point, because nobody wants to deliver a basic decent human action figure for under $8 but Mattel has two competing toy car brands delivering product that ranges from "worth the asking price" to "genuinely imaginative" all the time for $1.25 or less.

If I ever was unable to afford action figures, I'd probably still treat myself to a few die-cast cars a year. We're seeing stuff based on dinosaurs, the Fisher-Price phone, a Lucky Cat, and a bottle of hot sauce in this year's line alone. They're not high-end adult collectibles, but I am not a high-end adult - I want a fun toy. The Decidedly Go is something that it seems silly to review other than to say it's worth the asking price if you're into such things. It's a toy inspired by a toy, you can't really go wrong here.
