A lot of my car toy purchases boil down to "hey, that's neat." The '35 Ford Pickup reminded me a lot of my yellow Gotta Go [FOTD #2,847] and at a dollar, that was reason enough for me to bring it home and compare the two. They're pretty similar! But not identical. There are no toilet elements in Matchbox, it would seem.

Available in various colorways from 2019 until last year, where it was a Super Chase I'll never see, there are a lot of cheap versions of this car. You can't go wrong with a really gonzo color, and the Moon Eyes aspect was appealingly nifty. It's not something I see on cars on the road very much, and on toys, even less. My car know-how isn't terribly extensive, so I just appreciate it superficially with its painted, sculpted door handles and chrome wheel covers. There's no chrome on the engine, but it still looks pretty nice.

You can see a tool chest in the truck bed, which itself is sculpted fairly well. I love the striping along the doors and the absolutely tiny lettering on the sides - the paint quality on the 1:64 toy car space is nothing if not impressive. The yellow paint is mostly evenly applied, but you can see spots where it's a little thinner than might be ideal. That's not atypical when you're looking at cheaper toys with a brightly colored paint over a dark plastic or metal material - they'd need another coat to prevent hints of the metal from peering through. At this price (in this economy) that's just not likely.

A truck like this isn't going to change the world of toys, but it's a nifty custom retro truck that was appealing because it did look like another toy in my toybox. It's still pretty novel - it's the kind of thing I might see at a local car show, but not driving around very often - and you might still be able to find it in a grocery store. If not, it's cheap on eBay.
