Star Wars Review: Grogu (The Black Series)

Star WarsVia the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Grogu (The Black Series). It's the accessories from the somewhat more-expensive-than-he-should-be $10 figure with a floating egg for $25. He's guaranteed to sell, the paint is fine, he's cute, but you might cringe and grit your teeth when you see him next to other $25 figures. You might cringe and grit your teeth when you see him next to $10 figures, because there's no level of "pretty good" that makes up for "this would be puny if it were a 3 3/4-inch release and it's a 6-inch release." Read the whole review.

Review: Outer Space Men Galactic Holiday Cobaltus of the Voidrillion Command Colossus Rex Action Figure

Figure of the DayOuter Space Men Galactic Holiday Cobaltus of the Voidrillion Co	mmand Colossus Rex Action FigureSomething new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!

Newish! I got this Outer Space Men Galactic Holiday Cobaltus of the Voidrillion Command Colossus Rex Action Figure last year and this is a winner. He's big and blue with pink highlights and extra accessories. He has armor and alternate hands, but the inclusion of Xodiac's staff and blaster plus Gemini's staff and blaster really sell it. You don't need it, but when has that ever stopped me? Do read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!

New Healey Made Raider Saturday

GlyosRaidVia the Glyos News Dump: New Healey Made Raider Saturday, February 4. The Raiders are pretty fantastic figures and have come in dozens of colorways so far. They're not cheap, but they're about as close as you can get to a new old Kenner-style action figure... and I include Hasbro's own Kenner-style figures in the mix. These are generally, in terms of sculpt, closer to the original (old) article.

Price and colors are unknown, but it's 2:00 PM EST this weekend. These things tend to sell through fast.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Code Dumped

Super NESDisposable EverythingVia Neowin: Zelda: A Link to the Past can now be compiled on Windows and Nintendo Switch. The code has been reverse-engineered so you can do ports on a bunch of systems, plus new features like pixel shading are able to be used. Does it matter? Well, not to me, but someone will care. Widescreen aspect ratios may be the most important enhancement.

I would argue the original game is fine, but hey, you do you. You might be able to re-experience it in a new way, or at least play it for the first time. It's still a marvelous game.

That's Figure of the Day #3,000

Star Wars Review: Aayla Secura (The Black Series)

Star WarsVia the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Aayla Secura (The Black Series). In the not-too-distant future, right now A.D., there as a guy named Adam not too different from you or me. And this is the Figure of the Day #3,000 - which is a milestone for what kicked off as a filler feature with diminishing returns. Thankfully, the figure is excellent and Hasbro did a great job with her. It's strange that she has pre-2020-style knees, but one of last year's finer figures is a keeper. Read the whole review.

Figure of the DayHasbro Marvel Legends 375 Black Panther Action FigureSomething new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!

You'll glove him! This Hasbro Marvel Legends 375 Black Panther Action Figure adds some nifty lines to his gloves to give him a sort of comic art detail - it's not the way Kenner would have done it, but it looks cool! Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!

Another Raider: Now Available

GlyosBulloch PointsVia the Glyos News Dump: Available Now: Healey Made Raider (Bulloch). At press time, the Kenner-ish figure is still somehow in stock at $25. There have been a few Boba Fett-flavored figures, although for all I know it's a bigger run. If you've never bought a Raider, I'd recommend trying it out - if not this one, maybe when a weirder colorway comes out. (Shadow is still my favorite.)

Classic Review: October Toys OTMF Baby Deadbeet Mini-Figure from 2013

Figure of the DayOctober Toys OTMF Baby Deadbeet Mini-FigureA classic! I've written over 5,000 action figure reviews since 2006, so I'm going to toot my own horn with classic Figure of the Day.

Posted 10 years ago today! The October Toys OTMF Baby Deadbeet Mini-Figure was not only cheap, but it was pretty cool. When was the last time someone would sell out a low-run indie figure for $2? I really miss these guys, the October Toys crew did a spectacular job on them. Read on, it's a good one - and come back tomorrow for an all-new review!

More Manglors, More Knights of the Slice, More Bio-Masters

GlyosMangledVia the Glyos News Dump, we have news on three separate drops: Pre-Order Now: Manglors Wave 1.5 Menu, Mangord First Impressions. I got my Manglord on Monday, and he's impressive - but sold out! Thankfully ToyFinity is rerunning him, plus another colorway, plus more Mordles for a May release. Click for details.

DiveIf that weren't enough, we have a Toy Pizza Knights of the Slice Drop for February 6, 2023 . "It Came from the Caves" is the theme, with some bulky Diver molds in nifty new colors. One of these figures already sold out - heck, others probably did too. Click here to check availability at Knights of the Slice.

Millions of Leeches, Leeches for MeRounding out the week, we have a New Bio-Masters Drop on Friday Night at 9:00 PM CST. We don't know which figures it'll be, but a "Demons of the Deep" drop theme was mentioned. I missed out on last summer's new molds, so I'm hoping it will include some of those. (One is pictured.) Take a gander at the Bio=Mass Mutants if you haven't already done so.

That makes this a particularly eventful week for Glyos toys, and it's only Monday. The Healey Made Raider (Bulloch) is also still in stock as I write this.

Clearance lizard! I got this Mattel Jurassic World Dominion Roar Strikers Iguanodon Action Figure at a Walgreens after Christmas for 60% off, which feels about right. Yes, it says (Blue) on the box! The Hasbro Transformers Studio Series Decepticon Rumble (Blue) is on the expensive side, but it's a big upgrade over the Siege mold. He's a little taller, with blasters and pile drivers. Should it be $2 over a tape 2-pack? Probably not. Figure of the DayHasbro Dungeons & Dragons Golden Archive Gelatinous Cube Action FigureSomething new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!

Blue! I got this Hasbro Dungeons & Dragons Golden Archive Gelatinous Cube Action Figure recently and while it delivers on the promise, it's a little annoying. Prying the lid off to have it "eat" a figure is kind of difficult, and the accessories are a little flat and in some cases, one-sided. Is it worth $34? Maybe - but on sale, I'd recommend it. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!

Retro Kenner-Style Jurassic Toys... from Mattel

Jurassic ParkChaosVia Target, as these are their exclusives: New Jurassic Park 93 Collection 30th Anniversary Toys. In 1993, Kenner made a massive splash and ignited the "Dino-Riders vs. Jurassic Park" arguments on school playgrounds with their massively interesting toy line based on the biggest movie of the day. Mattel made new toys based on the old trade dress with Kenner-inspired deco and accessories for most of these figures... and I admit, I ordered them despite trying to whittle down my Mattel Jurassic stash. They're too neat.

No release dates are given, but the sets are pretty nice with cool boxes. The Dr. Ian Malcolm set ($23.99) features a "glider escape pack" as well as a Dilophosaurus in Kenner colors and a baby triceratops. It ain't cheap, given a human figure and a dino of this size normally costs around $15 - and this has bonus capture gear and a baby dino sidekick. The Dr. Alan Grant set [$23.99] has a couple of cool big weapons, a Gallimimus in Kenner colors, and a cute little green raptor - same price gripes here, too. The goofy Jurassic Park Track & Explore Vehicle Set at $34.99 seems like an easier sell - it's a big vehicle and a bulky Scutosaurus in what I believe are brand-new colors. The $50 Jurassic Park Electronic Real Feel Tyrannosaurus Rex does not seem worth the asking price - but you'll probably also order it anyway. She certainly looks big enough and seems to have the Bull T-Rex opening belly from the "gulper" in the 1990s... which is a selling point.

Star Wars Review: Dark Trooper (The Rescue, The Vintage Collection)

Star WarsVia the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Dark Trooper (The Rescue, The Vintage Collection). While I find most variants on figures tiring, army builders are a bit of an exception and there's something endlessly amusing by thinking that someone said "Do you know what's orange and looks good on this figure?" in a Hasbro pitch meeting. Birb! I got this Toy Pizza Knights of the Slice Frankenslice Crowkin Action Figure a few weeks ago and it's a nice mix of existing parts. You get a Chakan head, you get a Crow head, and you get some Onell Design limbs in a weird little package that has stuck around on my desk. And he has a little sword. But he sold out. Meccano to Close Last Dedicated Factory

ToysBucketVia the Guardian: WorldÕs last dedicated Meccano factory to close in France. Very similar to the Erector line of building toys sold in the USA, Meccano kits have been around since the 19th century and have been most recently been sold by Canadian toy outfit Spin Master. The toys will still be produced, but apparently construction is mostly owned by LEGO in this business, so what the future is for this old British toy standard.

1994 Link's Awakening Official German Guide with Awesome Art

Game BoyMy house...Via Achive.org: The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening German Strategy Guide. As far as I know this was never sold in English and I've never seen it before - but it's a high-res scan loaded with fun detail, color maps (fascinating since DX didn't come out until nearly 4 years later), and some great hand-drawn art representing characters and scenarios I don't believe I have seen from an official source before. If you loved Link's Awakening - and as one of the best games ever, you do - check this out.

Classic Review: Hasbro Ultimate Spider-Man Night Mission Spider-Man from 2013

Figure of the DayHasbro Ultimate Spider-Man Night Mission Spider-ManA classic! I've written over 5,000 action figure reviews since 2006, so I'm going to toot my own horn with classic Figure of the Day.

Posted 10 years ago today! The Hasbro Ultimate Spider-Man Night Mission Spider-Man is a stone-cold classic. Without a doubt, this is one of my absolute favorite toy purchases in the last decade, because it's so weird. It was a mere $5.99, and takes an existing, old mold of the web-slinger and casts it in clear blue. Why? Why not? In the grand tradition of Ambush Predator and X-Ray Man, Hasbro found a way to take a Marvel character and get more return on their tooling investment. It's pretty inexpensive on eBay if you can find one, so snag it if you see it. It's weird and it's the kind of bizarre imaginative thing that dotted the toy landscape of the 1990s before, I assume, IP holders lost their sense of humor in the 2010s. Read on, it's a good one - and come back tomorrow for an all-new review!
