For older kids! Well, that's the idea anyway. LEGO Technic sets have been around for years to give a sort of "advanced build" for bigger kids, involving more mechanisms like gears, shocks, and pistons that added complexity to increasingly massive models which were also excellent display pieces. The brand has been kicked around a lot, having been evicted from the early Bionicle packaging, and having been more or less replaced by Mindstorms for kids or adults wanting something truly next-generation. As such, the line continues with fewer new sets, but new sets nonetheless.

A Mini Backhoe Loader is a recent release, complete with rubber tires and numerous moving elements. An Off-Road Racing set also gives fans the chance to build a more complex but non-programmable build, but a very large tow truck (labeled "Recovery Service") is clearly the more impressive beast.
