New York's American International Toy Fair February 10, 2013
Make a Robot! It seems that LEGO Mindstorms is on this weird see-saw between being more complex and simplified. I'm not quite sure where they want to go, but this year it seems they're aiming to do both. The new kit has 3 models in the on-board instruction sheet, but about a dozen more are being done as online instructions so fans can get more out of this expensive set. Also, these models were designed by the fans, which is quite interesting to hear.

It'll be a few hundred bucks, but it does a lot. We were told there's a lot of programming opportunities with a new AMD chip running Linux, so for those of you who know how to program that's pretty exciting. Me, I collect plastic, so I don't know how that all works.
