San Diego Comic-Con July 25, 2014

An Entire Legion! The Four Horsemen are quite possibly the best sculptors working in the business today - but storytellers, not so much. Mythic Legions was shown at a wonderful reception in New York in February, essentially showcasing the engineering and concept - lots of armor suits, swappable parts, and customization. The idea would be that this was a 3 3/4-inch, Glyos-compatible line of figures which would most likely find its legs first on Kickstarter and see various new head sculpts, deco, and other pieces introduced as time goes on in order to deliver a pretty compelling suite of products. Like a variation on their popular - but admittedly cultish - "FANtastic Exclusive" concept, their customers would have a say in the direction but this also has the drawback of having less of a clear message to entice people who are not already on board.

In addition to skeletal parts and armors seen before, the Four Horsemen took fan comments to heart and delivered the goods - Orc heads! Orc bodies! Bare human arms and chests! Massive gauntlets! While Power Lords seems to be slowly gestating, this line has a lot going for it thanks to the modular nature of the designs and the rich source material that is every Fantasy story ever. While the characters are nameless - and possibly not even the final figures we may some day get - they are beautiful. It is both wonderful and a shame they'll be 3 3/4-inches tall when the time comes, as they would be exquisite neighbors to your Masters of the Universe Classics shelf. While there is no known release date, or on-sale date, or pre-order date, they're all pretty slick.
