Another "doesn't-match-the-packaging" release is Leo as the Wolfman, which saw release with green fur rather than brown. Either way is fine, as brown is more Wolfman-ey and green is more TMNT-esque. The figure mashes up the styles of the two characters nicely, incorporating torn pants and a shirt over a more or less traditional TMNT outfit with blue elbow and knee pads, plus an "L" belt buckle. The fur texture is pretty good, especially when you look at a lot of other fuzzy characters sculpted in plastic from this era. Those 1990s Chewbaccas weren't exactly great, and the chunky-but-furry sculpt here is, at worst, Muppet-esque. It's charming, and I like it.
With a glow-in-the-dark shirt, plus fangs and claws, the figure is quite striking especially if kept in a dark room. Switch on the lights for a few minutes, and as you can see, you're in for a treat. His weapons, which come in four different colors depending on the variation, include a gun which has just fired a silver bullet, a katana covered in cobwebs, a bear trap, and a cane. For some reason. Playmates of the 1990s were not one to skimp on accessories, and the costs stayed pretty constant for the bulk of the decade. Oh, the good old days.
Lately, this figure has been selling for $10 or less and that's just fine by me. With inflation it really isn't too shabby, so look this one up if you think turtles should list lycanthropy among their hobbies.
