It's a toy made to look like a toy? The Clockwork Robot looks a lot like wind-up toys sold roughly 50 years ago, the kind of tin robots that cost so much you may as well not ask the price. Rendered in LEGO, the figure has top-notch decoration and a surprising "wind-up key" accessory backpack.
While his bio paints him to be a creature who does not understand this emotion you humans call "love," the figure looks like either it belongs in a toy store window or in space. Either way, it's pretty excellent and a flexible design which can fit in with numerous themes.
The deco on the chest is some of LEGO's finest work, with numerous colors, tiny dots, little dials, and miniscule read-outs which work to prove just how bad your vision is these days. Even the head is superbly detailed, with big blue eyes featuring a white dot in the middle and a mouth made of bright lights. Painted rivets on his chest and waist help make this look like an expensive figure, as do the red hands. The people at LEGO really knocked it out of the park, particularly given there's not a lot of extra stuff in here-- you get a normal figure with a new head, a backpack, and a key. It's not as light on stuff as the crash test dummy, but it's pretty close.
I like this figure a lot, and it's one of the many figures that made series 6 more than worthwhile. It's one of my favorites in any series, and if you have the means I suggest picking one up. It's worth it. I mean, there's even printing on the legs!
