I'd be lying if I said I was familiar with Demogoblin-- having read up on other goblins over the years-- but Wikipedia assures me that he is, in fact, a demon who merged with some dude in New York to create a new, bad, and apparently easily killed villain. And now we have another figure!
Sharing the same buck as the other figures, Demogoblin is particularly notable for a freaky design and a removable plastic cape. With skulls on his belt and some tattered clothing, he looks like an evil 1990s villain should. Of course, he gets weirder with some very strange red and orange eyes and an even stranger tongue. If you look at it, it exits his mouth, goes behind his head through his cloak, and comes out on the other side. Gene Simmons would be proud. The little guy also has a metallic buckle, red feet, and a ton of sharp teeth... and of course the cape. (Marvel doesn't do too many capes in this toy line.)
As an art piece, this 3-inch figure is freaky and weird and totally cool. If you liked Spider-Man in the 1990s, odds are this set is going to be a can't-miss item even if the 3-inch figures have only jointed necks and arms. The ghoulish character does a good job combining a limited sense of whimsy found in some early Marvel villains with the increasingly grim face comics would put on as collectors became the key consumer as younger readers (kids) were effectively removed from the readership. I wouldn't have ran out to buy this guy by himself, but as part of this set he's a nice bonus and I can't complain about the quality of the design. That tongue alone is worth shelling out a few bucks to get, wouldn't you say?
