The secret word with Glyos is, usually, "surprise!" Onell Design are notorious for the occasional freebie in their orders, and often include bonus parts with their standard products so you can get a little more out of it. The Reforged Govurom figure is one of a few I picked up at Comic-Con in San Diego this year, and I did not get to him right away because I was too busy futzing around with Axis Joints and a Rig. I finally popped this set open and let me tell you: this may be my favorite figure of the run so far. It looks like some wizard cast a spell over plastic so it looks vaguely like an unpainted lead figure or die-cast metal, yet feels durable. The body reuses the same basic Exellis body with top-notch deco, and it stands out nicely. It came out as part of a wave of dark silver figures, and now I'm beginning to think it was a big mistake to not grab more-- this one is overwhelmingly neat.
If you are not familiar with the Glyos concept, each figure is something in between a LEGO figure and a Battle Beasts figure, but larger. The figure can be dismantled at each point of articulation with parts that can be swapped around with other figures or within the same release-- so if you want a leg for an arm and an arm for a leg, you're welcome to make that happen.
This 2 3/4-inch plastic figure came packaged in a small plastic bag with a colorful header card. If for any reason Onell opts to reissue this one some day, I'd say you shouldn't hesitate to buy it. The default head has a lot of chunks in it, plus a nicely detailed face with a lot of etched lines and black deco filling the grooves. His black eyes hide in the head nicely, plus there's added detail on the face like cheeks to bring him to life.
Meanwhile, head #2 is a robotic, more human noggin with a chin, mouth, eyes, helmet, and even a nose-- features generally lacking from these guys. It's available on numerous other Exellis heads (a few of which are available in the store at press time) but given the more metallic look of it, this is clearly one of the best of them. I'm almost frustrated I didn't get two of this figure because I can't decide which configuration I want to keep on my desk!
The arms and legs are the same basic design you've seen on Pheyden, Sarvos, Phanost, and other characters and as always are fully swappable with other Glyos figures. If you're new to the line, you can have fun giving the figures new poses by simply removing the arm from the socket, sticking the hand on the other end, and plugging it back in-- the figure can go from standing in a normal pose to waving rather quickly. With 12 points of articulation, all of which are swivel joints, you can actually get quite a bit out of these guys if you reconfigure their limbs just right. While you can add on to them with weapon arms and other accessories, it's worth noting that the Reforged Govurom mold does not have holes in his feet nor does he have a hole in his back, so you can't add on a jetpack or make your own Exellis Roller Skates or anything like that.
Given the limited nature of these figures, they sell out pretty quickly and rarely show up on eBay. As such, you may have to wait for Onell to crank out another silvery figure and hope one of the heads resembles these, otherwise you're going to be out of luck on this one. New Exellis figures show up all the time, Govurom less so, but a few have made the rounds and Govurom heads do get made from time to time in accessory packs. "Value" is tough to call given what you can (or can't) get at retail these days, but this type of figure lends itself to play nicely given that it has a number of options for configuration and unlike most other bring-brand figures, actually will stand on his own unassisted. That means a lot to me. It's a great figure, so if you ever have a chance to get it or one like it, why don't you?
