Over the years, LEGO has been pretty good about making sure some form of Mummy is in circulation. We got a few in the 1998 Adventurer's line, the movie studio theme had one, and we got a few more in Pharaoh's Quest-- and of course, there's this one. It's a sensible follow-up to the Pharaoh of series 2, and the detail on this new mummy is quite amazing. With few new parts, LEGO shelled out the extra nickel to ensure we got a fantastic paint job. Wrappings are drawn not only on the front of the torso, but also on the back, on the arms, on the legs, and even on the sides of the legs. This is pretty unusual, and a nice touch.
The decaying flesh underneath is depicted as green, as are the eyes. (They don't glow in the dark. I checked.) The bright white figure is molded entirely in that color, and were it not for the advanced paint job there's not a whole heck of a lot going on with this figure. His only accessory is a red scorpion, also repurposed from the old Adventurer's sets, but now in a slightly different red color.
It's a great mummy and another nice addition to the growing cast of monsters in the minifigures line. (Others include a zombie, a vampire, a werewolf, a witch, and even Frankenstein's monster.) Surprisingly no ghost has been made in this series as of yet, but it's not like there's a shortage of the original glow-in-the-dark one if you feel like tracking one down.
